It would be interesting to see how average speeds on commonly ridden mountain passes has changed over the years (i.e. Ventoux, Ausbisque, Alpe d'Heuz, Madeleine, Tourmalet, Galibier, etc.). I think performance on the major climbs over time would say a lot about how rider fitness, bike technology and potentially PED usage has changed over time.
