Tableau (as of this writing) does not allow you to customizing reference line tooltips. So how can you work around that? Simple! Check out this video and download the workbook to see how it's done.Enjoy!

Good video. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteAs a beginner of Tableau, I have a question about the order of the mark type. When the sales is greater than the budget sales, e.g California, I can't see the tooltip when I hover over the 'reference line'. It only shows the tooltip for the sales. I tried switching the back and front order, but it doesn't help. Any suggestions?
Thanks!!
If you want the measures to be displayed on all of the marks, then make sure you have those measures on the tooltip shelf on the All marks card.
DeleteIt does work. Thank you!!
DeleteHello Andy,
ReplyDeleteThanks. Another great tip! Quick question, I do not seem to be able to add the sheet in the tooltip. Could it be because you are using another version? I am on desktop version 10.4.4.
Thanks in advance for your reply!
All the best and thanks for the great content
Hi Renaud. That feature came in with 10.5.
